The School Day
Coming to School….
The nursery door is opened at 9.05 a.m. for a 9.15am start.
- It is important that children come to school on time in the mornings so right attitudes can be established.
- We encourage you to help your children take off their own coats and hang them on their own pegs.
- Please bring your child into the classroom and help them to find their name card
- Please take your child to an activity of their choice and spend time with them before you leave
- Please inform us if you are likely to arrive late at school, so that lunch can be ordered.
Going home….
The Nursery door is opened for parents to collect their children at 2.45 p.m.
- A member of staff will be at the door and will send your child to you.
- If someone unknown to the staff is collecting your child please give the school prior warning, either in person or by telephone. Written notes arriving with an unknown person are unacceptable.
- An adult must collect your child.
- For the safety of the children please do not bring your vehicle into the school premises or park on the clearly marked zig-zag areas outside the school drive.
- If it is necessary for us to close school at short notice, we will announce this on local radio stations. It is useful to listen, particularly during periods of bad weather.

In the summer children will be playing outside a lot. The school will provide a sun hat with their name in. For health and safety reasons you may want your child to have sun cream on. You will have to fill out a form to give permission for staff to administer cream to children to apply themselves.
Special Educational needs
The Nursery aims to provide a firm foundation for your child’s future education. Staff will be delivering a carefully planned programme to support your child’s development which will be regularly monitored.
Any child experiencing physical or educational difficulties will be supported both individually and sensitively by trained staff who will provide a nurturing environment to promote their achievements. At Burnwood Nursery we are fortunate enough to have regular interaction from specialist agencies who give consistent advice and support, not only to benefit our children but also whole families where necessary. Our Special Needs policy together with other school polices are available in school for you to read at your leisure.
